The above statement might be ancient but it is definitely worth remembering. The statement throws light on human behaviour. Humans are quite similar to a ship having their own ways to work and a set of capabilities and weakness.
Everything we think ,say and do has an effect not only in the world outside but in our inner world of emotions. We don’t realise it till the time things are falling in place .Btut once things don’t happen the way we want them to we feel disheartened and self doubt, guilt ,insecurity sets in. These are the times when our negative emotions become our biggest foe rather than the world surrounding us.Fear grips us throwing us off balance. We may not realise this but our comfort zone could be inhibiting our progress. It may seem that some of us face more challenges than others. But the truth is we all have situations conducive to our growth. What’s done cannot be undone .There are certain situations in life over which we have no control. But to take the situation as a challenge and trying to deprive the maximum advantage out of it is under our control.
GETTING OVER MISTAKES WE HAVE MADE
Making mistakes is normal. We are meant to take decisions to chart the course of life ahead .Not everything we decide will turn out right. One can recover from mistake. We find it easier to forgive others than forgiving ourselves.Every day is a beginning and presents us the opportunity to start afresh.
OVERCOMING FEAR
Fear clouds our judgement. It is a very strong negative feeling with the power to veil our clarity.Sitting in daily silence to allow the emotions to settle and deeper insights to surface is an antidote
BUILDING ENDURANCE
It is our inner strength and stamina which enables us to go through our challenges without giving up or breaking down.Calm endurance in pain and pleasure is the measure of our inner balance and equanimity.Acceptance builds endurance.Having positive people in our life builds endurance. It is not that they solve issues for us or bail us out,but their sheer spirit is infectious and ignites us as well.
BUILDING OUR RESILIENCE
We need resilience to stay in the game and keep moving ahead. It is built by connecting within.Even if we are not spiritually inclined ,just sitting a few minutes every day in quiet time allowing ideas and thoughts to emerge is a powerful practice.
THE TORTOISE
It moves slowly but continuously. We must remember that consistency is like boiling water. For a long time,we hardly see anything happening and suddenly the water boils. It is not that nothing is happening.LIKE this our efforts may not show immediate results but incremental steps leads to a tipping point of results. A tortoise is a symbol of non violence .It will serve us well to reach the ultimate goal of life.
TAKING A PAUSE
Sometimes life makes us pause. We are suddenly stopped in our stride for no fault of our own.Our plans go awry and we get agitated at the turn of events.Pause allows us time to review-what has gone right, and what could have been done differently.Just like an artist who stops regularly takes a step back and looks at his painting from a distance .The pause between his brush strokeshelps create the beauty.
FINDING STRENGTH IN SADNESS
Sadness moves us.But let it also move the power in us to make a difference .Let our sadness not be the cause for sorrow, but a trigger for change.and when we feel sad,let us remind ourselves that there is someone out there whom we need to reach out to and fill their life with happiness.
HANGING OUR TROUBLES
We carry our worries and trobles with us.even though we understand that it does us no good.A fatigued mind and body is not capable of facing the challenges of life. When we discover the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual strength by nourishing ourselves every day,we learn to hang up our troubles.
“CONCLUSION”
The sum and substance is that life is not just a journey.it is an exploration. It will take us through a ride of emotions and experiences we will never forget. The whole thing depends on our attitude towards them and our inner confidence.
