Let’s promise to be stronger youth of the future
Children are the true future of the Earth. They can carve the shape of our earth into a better place to live in. Recently we celebrated National Youth Day. It is the duty of the adults to show the right path to the children so that they can grow up to be better youths. I hope to inspire a lot of children to be strong and determined youths. This will in return benefit us the adult generations of India and World.
Introduction
India celebrates National Youth Day on 12th of January. I hope in all the schools this day was celebrated and children got to know about this day from your teachers. This day is Swami Vivekananda’s birthday. He was a symbol of youthfulness, liveliness and hard work. So, this day was declared as the National Unity Day by the government of India in the year 1984.
Life of Swami Vivekananda
Swami Vivekananda was born in 1863, on 12th January. His father was a barrister by profession. His original name was Narendra Nath Dutta. His father wanted him to be a barrister too. His mother’s name was Bhuvaneshwari Devi. He was born to a very rich family. As a child he was very good in studies. In 1871 Swami Vivekananda got admitted in Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar’s Metropolitan Institution. In 1879 he was the only student to receive first-division marks in the Presidency College entrance examination in Calcutta. In 1884 he passed the degree of Bachelor of Arts.
His professor William Hastie advised him to go to meet Ramakrishna Paramhansa in Dakshineswar. It was the year 1881 when Swami Vivekananda met Ramakrishna. He was deeply influenced by Ramakrishna. From there on, his life changed to an all together new dimension. At that point of time his father died. It was the year of 1884. His family went through a very tough time then. They did not have even enough money to survive with the basic needs. So to bear with the situation Vivekananda tried to find a job to sustain his and his family’s life. It was then when his bonding with Ramakrishna increased. Ramakrishna soothed his state of mind and paved his life. Ramakrishna became his mentor and made him renounce every Earthly needs to get more for knowledge on the existence of God.
In the year 1888 Swami Vivekananda decided to travel the entire nation with just a “kamandalu” and a few books in his hand. The mode of his traveling is called the garb of a “Parivrajaka”. He wandered all over the India using no other mode than his feet. Although sometimes to travel to another state he took trains. Yes, although it might sound very difficult and unimaginable, he did it. He traveled extensively for five long years. He met lots of people and exchanged views with them. He developed a lot of views and ideas to develop our country.
Another very important aspect of Vivekananda’s life was a visit to the west, including his mind boggling lecture in Chicago. In May, 1893 he went to Chicago. I am mentioning him as Vivekananda all the while. But he actually took the name of “Vivekananda”during this time. In Chicago he gave a devoting lecture for the youths all over the world. Along with Chicago, he also went to China, Canada and a lot of other countries. He delivered lectures in different eminent institutions and universities. He wrote several articles in English and Bengali. In his later life he used to be very ill. He had blood sugar. He died in the year 1902 on 4th July at the age of 39.
The life of Vivekananda, an inspiration
If you think about the life of this great personality then you get a lot of inspiration from the different aspects of his life. He always encouraged hard work, playing sports, tolerance, reading literature. All these things shape our life beautifully as was the case with him too. He was a nonviolent person. So children get to learn that how non violence is good for one’s life and for others around him.
Conclusion
Swami Vivekananda died so young. There is so much he achieved in such a short life. So much more we could have got if he would have died so young. He is a big inspiration for the people, especially kids. Kids have a very fragile mindset. If it develops properly, then they can be strong adults and be the pillars of this world. Along with this my final words to the kids will be never fear anything in life. Life has its own ups and downs. If the other adults have succumbed their share of such things, why can’t you. So be brave and go ahead in life.
