LeEco collaborates with Akshaya Patra to Provide Mid-day Meals to Underpriveleged kids
LeEco already become a well known brand in India, though it is not even a couple months old in the country.
Entering in January 2016, it hit the right chord with the smartphone-conscious population of India. It launched two popular phones in the country, Le 1S and Le Max, which have become an instant favourite with the younger generation. Le 1S has had a few flash sales, and all were successful with sales ending in less than 5 seconds.
One does not expect an new entrant to create so much impact in India, atleast not a smartphone company. LeEco has joined hands with Akshaya Patra, an NGO, to provide mid day meals to children as a part of the initiative from the Government of India. Corporate Social Responsibility is a huge deal these days and corporations are walking that extra mile to achieve the status.
LeEco will provide meal to two children on every sale of one Le 1S or Le Max in India, on 25th February 2016. It is something LeEco feels can give the love back to the people of the country, who appreciated its products so much and made them a success.
About Akshaya Patra
The Akshaya Patra Foundation is an NGO that runs mid-day meal program in India, in association with the Government of India. The ‘Mid-day meal’ program aims to provide lunch to 1.5 Million children everyday, across 24 locations in 10 states in India. Their aim is to reach a goal of feeding 5 Million children in 2020.
LeEco’s role in the initiative
For every one Le smartphone sold, two children will be given mid-day meal in their school, which is something LeEco will be supporting the Government of India in. Organising it for one day, LeEco will be able to reduce the burden on the Government and help increase the turnaround and provide food to the future of India.
Talking about the initiative, Atul Jain, COO at Smart Electronics Business, LeEco, said, “LeEco’s core values as a company includes associating ourselves with social causes that help sustainable development of the communities where we operate. We are proud to associate ourselves with Akshaya Patra Foundation that supports children and provides a basic necessitythat helps them in their schooling. We are also pleased to add that employees of LeEco have volunteered to be part of this meal initiative. The mission of The Akshaya Patra Foundation is to reach 5 million children by 2020 and we hope to continue our association to help them cross this goal.”
LeEco has already taken the smartphone industry by a storm, and an initiative like this to uplift the people of country is extremely heartening and welcome. I hope other corporations come forward and pledge to make contributions to the society they are serving.
