A few plants feed on insects for fulfilling their nitrogens requirement . Such as insect eating plant are called Insectivorous Plant . Pitcher plant , Utricularia , Venus , Flytrap , Drosera are Insectivorous Plant . They are generally green plants . As they can prepare own food . But for preparing proteins , they can not get nitrogen from the surrounding .The insects onwhich they feed ful fill thier nitrogen requirements . In the pitcher plant the leaf lamima is modified to from a pitcher like structure . The apex of the leaf is modified into a lid which can open and close the mouth of the pitcher . Inside the pitcher there are hair which are directed down wards . WHen an insects lads on the pitcher the laid closes and the trapped the insects . The insect is digestive juices secreted in the pitcher .
