About the Infosys Power program for campus placements
As part of its campus placement effort, Infosys introduced a ‘power program‘ for universities with differential hiring. The company apparently pays annual packages of Rs 9 lakh.
According to a story in The Economic Times, the Rs 9 lakh compensation package is significantly more than Infosys’ existing entry-level deals of Rs 3-3.5 lakh.
A source informed the newspaper that the emphasis in these hiring categories is on coding and software problems, programming ability testing, and other specialised skill assessments. The remuneration packages provided range between Rs 4-6.5 lakh and Rs 9 lakh.
Infosys headcount fell by about 2,000 between April and June, bringing its total to 315,332, according to the study.

This strategy is comparable to TCS’s, which seeks to hire approximately 40,000 freshers, in line with last year’s figures. TCS offers three packages to freshers: ‘Ninja’ at Rs 3.6 lakh, ‘Digital’ at Rs 7.5 lakh, and ‘Prime’ at Rs 9-11 lakh. The ‘Prime’ programme, which debuted last year, has extended to include AI, generative AI, and machine learning.
The $250 billion technology services business in India has slowed over the last year, prompting several software exporters to cut their personnel. In fiscal 2024, India’s top five IT companies shed around 70,000 jobs. Meanwhile, the top four Indian IT businesses are likely to hire approximately 82,000 freshers in FY25, with HCLTech and Wipro aiming to hire 10,000 and up to 12,000, respectively.
