Benjamin Franklin once said, “By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail”. This quote
elementally revolves around the idea of lack of planning and setting up of goal. It
significantly means that if a person fails to put together his works and prioritize them, it is
that person who is preparing to fail in his work. People who failed to develop and set a target
goal are those who generally lose the race towards achievement. This remarkable quote helps
to recapitulate the idea of setting goals and working in the right direction towards
achievement. For instance, a chef will never begin to prepare the meal without accumulating
all the necessary ingredients, types of equipment, etc. And then after by using all these
ingredients he will make the ultimate meal. Human life is also like this instance if a person
needs to achieve success in his life then he had to accommodate all the factors to get ready
and prepare to reach the last step of the ladder of success.
To be successful in life we need to prepare things, make big plans, aim high and work
towards it rigorously day and night. All successful individuals half meticulously planned their
life and their workload, keeping in mind the short-term and long-term goals of their life. In
this planning they also make an alternate plan to overcome the unexpected things which can
happen during their work schedule. In a nutshell, a successful person has different kinds of
plans ready according to the circumstances like, if plan A fails plan B will work if plan B
fails plan C will work alternately.
Planning involves elements like focus, strategy, priorities, flexibility. Planning helps to keep
the focus on the ultimate goal by strategizing the ideas and workload, prioritizing the work
according to flexible hours. It forbids us from doing big mistakes and keeps everything
organized and onboard. Planning helps us know the overview and perspective of our work,
the direction in which we are heading, the advancement in our journey, and gives a glimpse
of how much work is still left towards achieving the objective. Planning is a major factor for
achieving success in life. Every successful person has started his work towards his goal by
planning and plotting. It helps us to know which things need to be given more importance
and what amount of time should be given to other things. It helps us to maintain the time
limitation and reach our goals without any difficulties or any hassle.
A person who does not prepare things according to a plan is the person who tends to capture
themselves in the hassle and their work is haphazardly presented. It seems that the person is
working blindly towards the wrong path or an empty road. They are not clear about their
goals and they tend to give up easily when life brings up challenges and difficulties.
Charles Dickens once said, “I never could have done what I have done without the habits of
punctuality, order, diligence, and determination to concentrate on one subject at a time.” All
the factors stated by him are part of planning to achieve the goal. These are different kinds of
food in different containers but are presented on one plate, here the plate is the ultimate goal
and the different containers are the factors that are part of that goal.
Life brings a bunch of opportunities to a person’s life. A person who is prepared and well
planned will grab the opportunity and the unprepared person will miss it and regret its
lifetime. It doesn’t matter how well versed, knowledgeable and talented you are in any field,
you must spend time to plan and prepare for that event.
The planning process should be gradual and should be organized manner. Take smaller steps
and break the goal into different forms which establish a defined path towards the ultimate
goal. Prepare for the next step, the next upcoming aim, and ultimately for the target.
Most people fail not because of lack of money, assistance, opportunities, talent but they fail
because of lack of planning in their journey. So, plan your future systematically to achieve
the ultimate target.
