At the ripe age of 23, I was diagnosed with an incurable terminal illness. Despite this news, I refuse to let my illness control my life. Instead, I’ve chosen to use it as an opportunity to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. That’s why my number-one inspiration is someone who has battled cancer head-on— Rudi Gernreich. Rudi is a designer who is well-known for his innovative work in fashion and textiles.
He also happens to be one of the few people to have beaten cancer twice. Not only was Rudi able to overcome his disease, but he also used his experiences to create some of the most iconic and timeless pieces of clothing in history. In this blog post, we will explore the incredible story of Rudi Gernreich and how his cancer battles have inspired me more than anything else ever could.

My grandmother
I think the person who has had the most impact on my life is my grandmother. She is truly a remarkable woman. She has always been there for me, no matter what. She is an amazing cook and baker, and can do everything from fixing a simple meal to creating a complex dessert.
She is also very intelligent. While I didn’t always appreciate it when she would quiz me on things I knew, her intelligence has helped me in innumerable ways. For example, during my undergraduate years, she was able to help me figure out how to get into graduate school, even though I had no prior experience in that area.
Overall, my grandmother is just an incredible person and I am incredibly grateful for all she has done for me.
My aunt
I am incredibly grateful for my aunt. She is the person who has inspired me most in my life. She is a motivator, an encourager, and somebody who has always believed in me. Even when I was a young kid, she would tell me that anything was possible if I worked hard enough for it. And she was right – anything is possible if you set your mind to it. My aunt has taught me so much about life and how to live it to the fullest. She is my rock, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her support.
My friends
I’ve known my friends for as long as I can remember. We’ve grown up together, gone to school together, and shared everything from first kisses to life-altering moments. They are the people who have been there for me when I needed them, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
There are a few people in my life who have inspired me the most. They have shown me that anything is possible if you set your mind to it, that no matter what life throws at you, you can always find a way to deal with it.
My first inspiration was my mom. She never gave up on herself or on us, even when things were hard. She was always positive and motivated me to do the same.
Then there’s my best friend since middle school. We’ve been through so much together and shared everything from our deepest secrets to our biggest laughs. Playing video games or going for walks together is one of the few things that still makes me laugh out loud these days.
Last but not least, there’s my fiancé. He’s the reason why I’m standing here right now writing this blog post instead of curled up in a ball on the floor crying my eyes out over some stupid boy who broke my heart a year ago today (although I still miss him a lot). He has showed me that love is worth fighting for and that no matter how bad things seem at times, they will eventually get better.
My family
My family has always been a very important part of my life. My parents have always been there for me, no matter what. They have never given up on me and have always been there to support me. My siblings are also a big part of my life. We are close, and we do everything together. We are all very supportive of each other.
I would definitely say that the person who has had the biggest impact on my life is my mother. She is an amazing woman, and she has done so much for me. She has always been there for me when I have needed her, and she has never given up on me. She has taught me about sacrifice, and she has shown me how to be strong in the face of difficult challenges.
Without my mother in my life, I don’t think I would be where I am today. She has helped me to become the person that I am today, and I owe her everything.
My dog
When I was growing up, my family had a golden retriever named Scooby. He was the best dog ever and I loved him to pieces. He was always so happy and playful, and he made me feel so lucky. Even though he’s gone now, his spirit lives on in every one of my dogs – they all have that same special something that makes me love them so much.
I think the thing that inspired me most about Scooby was how devoted he was to us. He would always stay close by our side no matter what, no matter how bad the weather got or how many people were around. He just wanted to be there for us and make us feel loved. That’s really what matters in life, isn’t it? Having someone who is there for you no matter what – whether you’re fighting off a monster or just dealing with everyday life. And that’s why Scooby is definitely my favorite person ever!
