It is very accurately said, “Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation.”
Preparation has got a pivotal role to play in an individual‟s life. Proper preparation prevents poor performance. It aids one in framing goal-setting competencies for themselves; making proper and concrete schedules, helping in managing and carrying out innumerable tasks effectively, with full vigour. However, absence of preparation gives rise to tremendous ambiguities, apprehension, etc. making one all the more tormented, both mentally and physically. Thus, it is of immense importance to prepare for all your endeavours before actually striking the iron.
In a school/college going adolescent‟s life, he‟s advised to „prepare‟ a Time-Table, To-Do List, Goal of the Day, etc. Why do we hear this so often? The reason is very basic and genuine. An effective time-table will help the student in learning, completing his assignments, working on projects, etc. in a planned manner, at the same time, adopting a peaceful approach towards work. Perhaps, it is even more necessary for the student to implement the designated Time-Table to ace his preparation, for efficient results.
In the life of an entrepreneur, preparation drives effective work. In a business, preparation plays an instrumental role in bearing risk of uncertain challenges, both at the formal level and informal level. Perhaps, someone who‟s not mentally prepared for the hard work and cumbersome burden mingled with struggles attached with the job will not be in a great position to handle things decently and might collapse on the onset of such difficulties. Success does not come to people easily; a lot of hard work, dedication and planning are required.
Preparation instils the feeling of confidence within a person to carry out various activities in an organized manner with ardour. With preparation, one does not get distracted or lose focus of his goals and objectives even when the going seems tough and unattainable. Moreover, a great idea that can be upheld is to break down long-term goals into itsy-bitsy easy achievable
targets and start preparing for each of them. This does not only reduce workload and burden but also makes the person specialize in almost all his endeavours. In addition to this, it genuinely helps to show a crystal-clear pathway to people.
Those individuals who do not understand the significance of preparation, taking things lightly and failing to prepare their goals lose out a lot in their lives. They get heavily deviated from their path, and start walking aimlessly. Since they do not have clear goals in their minds, the chances of their failure are disproportionately high as compared to those who are well prepared. They give up easily when they are faced by obstacles and hurdles in life. They forget the overall big picture about long term goals and get overwhelmed by petty difficult tasks along the way, which leads to immense failure.
Successful people may have short-term, medium term and long-term goals. The difference between these types of goals is actually our level of preparedness. If we are prepared, we can make things work out for the best. If we are not ready, our odds of success or even of surviving the situation are considerably diminished. Furthermore, success takes time, discipline, thought, efforts, research, organization and even meditation. Preparation is an investment in you and your tasks and procedures. In order to create possibilities, it‟s important to be prepared, make yourself the prime focus and capitalize on each opportunity that comes your way. It would be the best if you began to prepare as if every day had unique chances.
During my VII standard, I had applied to volunteer for the Junior Youth Empowerment Programme (JYEP). I passed the initial rounds and then moved to the personal interview round. I took things very lightly and did not prepare much for the interview because I thought that the interviewer shall ask general questions. On the contrast, I was so perplexed and puzzled at nearly every question. The reason behind this was that although I had innumerable ideas in my head, I wasn‟t able to put them in words. As a result, I couldn‟t qualify the round and I failed it. This made me realize that I would have a better outcome if I had prepared for the interview.
Hence, in my opinion, if we know about a particular event ahead of time, and still not make the necessary preparations, we‟re sure to fail.
