The Eiffel Tower
Possibly the most well-known structure in Paris, the Eiffel tower is a must see for anyone visiting the city. However, if you’re intending on heading there to take photos beware; there are some restrictions. It is fine to take photos of “Le Tour” during the day, both close up and part of a larger landscape. However as soon as night falls and the lights go on then photographs are not allowed unless they are taken from a greater distance and only form part of a night-time cityscape photo.
Stonehenge
Moving across the English Channel, Stonehenge is a World Heritage Site in Wiltshire that is surrounded by mystery. Every year, thousands visit this site to marvel at the huge stones and ponder how they came to be there. Access during public opening times is limited to around 10 yards outside the stones. However, it is possible to arrange special visiting hours and get that little bit closer. Sunset and sunrise make for the most spectacular photos.
Machu Picchu
The last Incan Settlement of Machu Picchu in Peru is not only a site of cultural significance but also one that is agriculturally and architecturally important as well. Built in the 15th century in the Cusco region, this citadel is one of the most photographed and visited locations in the world and it really isn’t difficult to see why. With so many stunning views you will be spoilt for choice when you visit this landmark.
Venice City
Whilst Venice City is in itself made up of a number of different landmarks, it is certainly worthy of a place on this list. As a city, Venice has long been celebrated for its beauty and taking stunning images here is a simple task with something new around every corner. A collection of 118 small islands, Venice has over 400 bridges and is separated by hundreds of canals. This means that there are plenty of vantage points where you can take fantastic photographs. This is a paradise for any photographer who loves architecture, street portraits or just about anything. If you time your visit just right, then you could also capture the incredible masks of the Venice carnival.
Iceland
The entire country of Iceland is a photographer’s paradise, so rather than list just one place Iceland as a whole deserves a place on this list. The landscapes themselves are incredibly diverse, from the ice-capped mountains to the black sandy beaches, but this is not the main thing that draws photographers to this stunning country.
The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are a truly breath-taking sight that attract photographers from all over the world. The wonderful colors and the dark sky make for some truly spectacular photographic opportunities.
